Whether you’re new to SEO or seasoned professional, keeping on top of the latest search engine news is essential to your SEO campaign.
Here are the 7 SEO blogs you should be following:
1. SEO Moz
SEOMoz.org is not only the most widely used resource for SEO tools, but it’s also the best online SEO learning resource for search marketers. Here at the WebMarketing Group, we are big fans of SEOMoz and we can follow some of our favourite bloggers such as Rand Fishkin (SEOMoz CEO), Cyrus Shepard (good to follow for copywriting / blogging tips) and Jennita (social media star).
2. SEO Book
SEO Book scores the highest on our list for Google PageRank, Alexa Rank and Technorati (combined score), making it a highly influential site. Just like SEO Moz, the team here at the WebMarketing group are keen followers of the SEO Book blog. It provides us with the most up to date information, news and tips on keyword research techniques, on-page SEO techniques, link building, competitive research and more. In addition to the blog, SEO Book also has an SEO videos section so you can learn about search engine optimisation in a more interactive way.
3. Search Engine Land
We turn to Search Engine Land, which is a leading online publication for the latest search engine news. What we love about Search Engine Land is the useful section for first time visitors to the website. It’s got a good introduction with a Search Engine Land tour for new SEOs and links to the all important resource areas including ‘How to’ articles, search industry news articles and featured columns.
4. Search Engine Watch
This is a great website to go to for SEO specific news. Our SEO experts love to turn to Search Engine Watch for news updates, SEO stats, SEO forums and SEO tools. We’ve also attended a few Search Engine Land webinars which are extremely useful to our research and in house SEO training.
5. Matt Cutts' Blog
Who better to follow than the Google man himself? Matt Cutts is the head of the Google Webspam Team and his personal blog is a mix of Google news, gadgets and technology and his own personal ventures. Most of his blog posts are SEO based and he brings a lot of insider news straight from the Google office!
6. Search Engine Journal
Managed by Editor in Chief, Loren Baker and Associate Editor, Ann Smarty, Search Engine Journal offers handy and insightful SEO tool reviews, technical SEO tips and more.
7. Search Engine Roundtable
Search Engine Roundtable has been recognised as one of the ‘Top 10 SEO Blogs’ (2009) by Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land. Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal also gave the blog a similar accolade in 2007, so it’s clear that it’s a very respected site within the search industry.
