7 Ways to Build a Great Facebook Fan Page Following

Social media is now the UK’s biggest traffic driver.  Your business really can’t afford to miss out on this incredible social phenomenon.

Grow your following with some of the best tips taken from industry experts; we have a skilled social media team here at The WebMarketing Group and here are some of their thoughts on building up a quality following on Facebook.

1. Announce your arrival

If you’ve just landed in the social media world, don’t just sit there and wait for things to happen with your Facebook fan page. Tell people about it.  Tell them every way you can.  Place “become a fan on Facebook” badges on all the key areas of your website.  We recommend that you promote social media on your homepage and your contact page – at least.

2. Create a buzz

If you have a news section or a blog, make sure you create an exciting post to tell people about your Facebook page.  Integrate Facebook with your newsletters and email campaigns to reach more people.

3. Use Facebook advertising

Facebook adverts target certain demographical groups and you can also target people with special interests.  This is a good way of giving your campaign a little follower boost or to start the ball rolling with reaching out to untapped customers.

4. Be patient

Everyone has to start small and it’s very easy to get sucked into the numerous online services where you can buy Facebook fans. This is something that we do not recommend.  Longevity lies in organic methods of social media optimisation and quick fixes or short cuts will not bring you the return that you’d like.  Start off small asking friends and colleagues to follow your page and over time, you can build up a natural following of high-basket-value social networkers who are more likely to buy from your website.

5. Be interesting

Nobody likes to be bombarded with sales messages on Facebook.  Social networking sites are all about freedom of speech and connecting with other people; at the same time people have the freedom to disconnect with you too.  If you want to engage your Facebook fans, getting to know them is the first step.  Generate some common areas of interest and you will find that you get a high follower retention.

Provide brilliant and exclusive content and people will follow you because they just have to know what you’re going to say.

6. Provide incentives for fans

Why should people follow you on Facebook? After all there are hundreds of other businesses on Facebook.  If you want people to be excited to follow you, offer exclusive Facebook discounts, VIP access to new stock, the most up to date information before anyone else hears it, competitions, free gifts, voucher codes and anything else that makes you worth their time.

7. Use Multi Level Marketing

MLM (Multi Level Marketing) is a great fan booster.  Ask people to ask their friends to become a fan and throw in some freebies and incentives for the people who find you the most fans.
