Car sales up for second month

While car sales are 21.5% lower than the same period last year, car sellers should take comfort that UK car sales rose by 2.4% in July, the first rise since April 2008.

August saw a continued rise in sales, up 6% from a year ago as many consumers are using the scrappage incentive scheme. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported that in August 67,006 new cars were sold.

September is seen as a key month in the automotive industry as the ‘59’ plate will be released and is traditionally the peak season where sales make up 17% of annual sales.

SMMT also reported the best selling cars by segment and market share:-

  • Mini – Hyundai i10 – 24.1%
  • Supermini – Vauxhall Corsa – 13.7%
  • Lower Medium – Ford Focus – 16.8%
  • Upper Medium - BMW 3 Series – 14.5%
  • Executive - Mercedes-Benz C-Class – 26.4%
  • Luxury - Mercedes-Benz S-Class – 21.2%
  • Sports – Audi TT – 18.5%
  • 4x4 – Honda CR-V – 10.6%
  • MPV – Vauxhall Zafira – 31.8%

Car Giant GM tapping into online market

GM are launching a test program in California with EBay that will allow consumers to negotiate with dealers and buy vehicles online. The site marks a departure from the way new vehicles have traditionally been sold in the United States and is aimed at helping GM regain strength. Similar ventures are likely to emerge in Europe.

We help our clients increase their online presence and visibility through our integrate search engine optimisation (SEO) campaigns that work to increase links to their website and write compelling content.

We provide a free website review and can suggest ways to enhance your conversion rates. If you already experience good traffic but poor conversion rates, our multivariate analysis M-VAP could be of  great benefit as it can help identify how to best engage your visitors.

Tap into less competitive keywords – use long tail SEO

Here at The WebMarketing Group we are experts at using keywords. We have proved that “vanity” keywords are highly competitive and have a lower ROI.

Sticking to “car sales” as your keyword may not bring as much ROI as adopting a long tail SEO approach. LTaS uses less competitive keywords that can bring equal, if not greater, traffic volume.

Add the fact that search queries are getting longer and that internet users are getting better at searching and LTaS can really bring back good ROI.
