Top SEO Blogs of the Month

Google Panda and the brand new Google+ have been big topics in recent months, and here at WMG we’ve been following our favourite SEO bloggers to get the latest scoop.  We are constantly searching for new and innovative ways to optimise our clients’ websites, and it wouldn’t be possible without these top SEO blog sites.

Here are some of our favourite blogs of the month.....

1. What is Google PageRank Good for? – SE0Moz.org

A slightly retro discussion with Rand Fishkin, posted by Aaron Wheeler for Whiteboard Friday.  The video in this post talks about the vintage metric which often seems so important to SEO newbies and SEO clients.  Rand shares his thoughts on how to correctly use Google PageRank, and how PageRank isn’t everything when it comes to rankings and link valuation.

2. Why You Should Use Multiple Web Analytics Tools – SE0Book.com

We all know how important SEO analysis is to a campaign, but here Aaron Wall talks about the different analytics tools available and the importance of using more than one tool for realtime tracking and granular historical data.  Aaron also recommends some great primary tools such as Google Analytics, Clicky, Urchin and KISSmetrics, as well as some good back-up sites like Mint or Piwik.

3. New Benchmarks Study Shows 5 Key SEO Findings – SearchEngineWatch.com

Rob D. Young shares the latest update from MarketingSherpa (annual benchmark report) and discloses an interesting study which provides SEOs with the latest search marketing findings.  There is also a very handy infographic that can help us break down time and budget into the best practices.

4.  What’s Working in Landing Page Optimisation Right Now – SearchEngineJournal.com

This is a fantastic post by Jenise Uehara Henrikson on the art and science behind perfect landing page optimisation.  With takeaways from Search Engine Strategies San Francisco, Jenise dishes the guidance on segmenting traffic, using product badges, advertising tax reductions, balancing design with conversion rate, and more.

5. Beating Google’s Panda Update: 5 Deadly Content Sins – SEOMoz.org

Cyrus Shepard focuses on the biggest content sins to avoid for a full Panda recovery.  Although a small number of people have a ‘disliked’ this post and commented that there is much more to Panda than just content, here at WMG, we still believe that these content sins play a big role. This post isn’t an exact formula, but it gives us a fine guideline for building good quality websites, regardless of Panda.
