Following on from an excellent blog at SEOMoz “Answering Hard SEO Questions” I felt inspired to write a quick blog on some of the tricky questions we get here at The WebMarketing Group.
It started as an inspiration, but a shared question we always get here is, if we are so good at SEO then how come we don’t rank in first position for SEO? That’s an incredibly hard one to answer and by no means being deflective we are slowly crawling up the rankings as we are up against some really big fish in the SEO pond. That doesn’t mean our services are not up to scratch, that we bow down to superior SEOers but that competition for that keyword is huge and initially those battle can’t be won.
Longer Search Queries and Terms – One Battle at a Time
A search for SEO brings back 136 million results – to compete effectively against those keywords is naturally very hard and something we do at this company is look at the bigger picture. We do this for our clients as well and believe that conquering
long tail keywords is the better strategy. Start thinking at longer term keyword searches, tap into the mind of your audience, keep up to date with search preferences and what you’ll notice is that smaller, more achievable battles are easier to win.
Back to our individual case, we look for longer and more specific keywords such as “social media optimisation” and “web marketing” – keywords that have equally high search volumes and results – targeting specific and multiple keywords in a search query has
SEO or PPC?
This is another frequently asked SEO question. There is without doubt an immediate result from PPC but the longevity and sustainability of
PPC has to be questioned. If you sell your products and services in a very time specific time frame then PPC may be good for you. SEO however has longer term reach – it doesn’t stop when your campaign is up. Here at The WebMarketing Group we carry out bothe PPC and SEO for our clients but if we had to give an empirical answer then SEO would be our marketing tool of choice.
If you get SEO right, build up you online presence and visibility then SEO far outreaches PPC. To build your visibility look at online SEO,
content writing,
link building,
online PR,
social media – the full array of SEO tolls to build and create an online authority.
