WMG staff have been helping to save lives this year with a number of different charity runs which have all received generous sponsorship from the WMG piggy bank. We’ve supported many charity events over the years, from the glamorous heights of the Yorkshire Young Achievers Black Tie Dinner to the competitive world of Strictly Come Dancing contests.
Both men and women in the WMG workforce have shown their generosity, showmanship and athletic stamina over the many years we’ve been around, but this year we really have to toast to the leg-strong ladies who lapped up the miles in various charity runs across the country.
A Toast to Our Female Fund Raisers!
Let’s all do a virtual three cheers to the lovely ladies who led the way with our 2011 charity races; Kari Munro, Remie Lund, Ginny Deacon Elliott, Taryn Mitchell and Angela Hutchinson have all been a great sport and WMG have been proud to be able to sponsor them in their mission to save and improve the lives of others.
Not only do charity races bring support to the organisations which need it the most, but they can also bring a sense of completion, achievement and victory to those who take part.
These ladies were up to the challenge and here’s what they had to say:
Angela’s Story
“This July I completed the Race For Life annual charity walk/run (walk in my case), in Thornes Park, Wakefield. Most of you will know this event takes place every year in numerous cities and has raised many millions so far for Cancer Research UK.
I stuck to the back of all the runners/walkers with friends who had kids in pushchairs or who were, like me, not at the peak of physical fitness and took along my dog Bremner for company.
I’d like to say a big thank you to The WebMarketing Group who helped me raise £300 personally to add to the many millions raised throughout the country for Cancer Research UK.”

Kari’s Story
“People thought I was mad to actually want to do the Great North Run again but it really is a great day out! All the crowds and other participants make it worthwhile, as well as knowing you’re raising lots of money for your chosen charity. There is also the added competitive streak in me; after last year’s 2hr 1 min 36 seconds, it was my mission to try and get under the 2 hour mark!
The weather was not the best for running; it wasn’t the awful winds that were predicted but in its place was a humid heat and a beating sun, we were all drenched within a mile! Luckily all the children on the side of the road like to squirt all the water bottles at you so that was actually a welcome relief for a change!
This year was harder! I went out far too fast within the first 5k and as a result spent the rest of the time trying to keep the pace.....which thanks to the crowds I just about managed to do!
The finish line was a welcome relief and alas was elated when I got past the finish line in 1hr 52 minutes. My work here is done. Wonder If I can get 1hr 45min next year......!!
I would like to say a huge thank you to The WebMarketing Group who sponsored me for the event and helped me raise £644 for my chosen charity, Martin House Children’s Hospice. Thank you.”
