Latest research by Direct Marketing Association (DMA) finds that in 2010, 7 out of 10 marketers plan to increase spend on email marketing.
Despite projected growth, DMA also found that best practices and planning are lagging behind.
Other key findings from the report include:-
- Only 50% had best practice policies in place regarding email frequency
- Only 25% could calculate the value of an email
- 12% knew how many emails a recipient should receive
Success and ROI are still measured by the open and click though rates but few marketers were measuring income generated by email marketing.
Spam was another topic covered and the report found that some marketers were failing to remove unsubscribes in direct contravention of anti-spam laws. Data cleansing also revolved around removal of emails from the marketing list with little rebuild or further investigate action.
Here at The WebMarketing Group we sent out tens of thousands of emails for our own marketing and also for clients.
