Yesterday, May 14th 09, search giant Google crashed, meaning millions of people couldn’t access the website. Problems were also reported with the Gmail service and Google News. If you use Google to power your ads and search functions on your site, then you probably witnessed the issue too.
So what caused it? Well, Google have been looking into it and insist the crash was not linked to any sort of hacking. Google News was unavailable for around 3.5 hours but it was quickly resolved.
This just shows how important Google is to Internet users and many of us rely on it for the work we do. Despite other search engines being available, Google is the first choice for millions and without it we feel, well, a little bit lost really.
