Search engine giant Google has new products in store that they hope will give it a new direction, changing the way search is conducted in the future.
The new change revolves around semantic technology, which would give Google the ability to recognise the meanings of words to find relevant results, rather than just focus on the word itself that is typed into Google. There has been a demand within SEO groups for search engines to start recognising the potential in semantic technology, as users become more reliant on Google to deliver them the results that they are expecting, understanding what they type in as opposed to just searching for it.
According to the BBC, Google’s Marissa Mayer believes that the race in search is far from over and it is essential that they continue to improve and push the boundaries. Despite Google occupying a significant search market majority of over 63%, it is clear that they are not prepared to sit back and accept this figure. They want to do better and they are determined to push search to the next level. Will the other search engines be able to keep up? Yahoo! currently has a 20% share of the market, so it is questionable as to whether this figure will increase as Google continues to dominate.
The Google engineers are constantly thinking about what is going to be the next big thing in search and as new Google products are released each year, there is proof that Google is getting better all the time.
