There are changes ahoy at Google’s headquarters, as new tools have been demonstrated to bring the computer search engine closer to mobile phones, in order to push the boundaries and extend the user base. There are also new products that will automatically search the Internet for research topics and generate spreadsheets.
Another new feature which is to be made available immediately, allows users to view time-based search results, meaning a topic’s results can be narrowed to show anything from the past 24 hours to the past week. This makes real-time searching far more accessible to users all over the world, as they can find the latest results on the subject they are researching. This new feature might mean that old content that doesn’t get updated gets pushed down in the search results, making way for the more relevant and recent results.
According to Reuters.com, Google will search blogs and news sites in addition to the general information online to provide a better understanding and fresher picture on various topics.
Another new tool set to be available next month will be called Google Squared. This function will find information on the Internet and then create spreadsheets detailing the subjects a user searches for. It is assumed that this tool will help Google understand user behaviour much better in order to improve the way they deliver search results.
