New Google Analytics Feature For Local Businesses

There is quite a buzz in the US right now, thanks to the addition of a new analytics feature especially targeted to the US local business audience.

Business users are now going to be able to see how customers find their website with a new Google Analytics Dashboard feature that was launched yesterday.

This new feature is free and means that business owners can control the content of their business listings as they appear in Google Maps and Google Search.

Titled as the Local Business Center (LBC), businesses can use this new tool to claim their listing and go through a short verification process. Once claimed, the following data can be accessed with ease:

  • Actions – the number of times the user clicked through to the site/accessed directions to the business etc
  • Impressions – the number of times the business listing appeared in the Google search results or Google Maps.
  • Zip codes information – this will detail where the customers are located when they request directions to a business location.
  • Top search queries – which queries (keywords) led customers to the business listing.

Of course, if you’re outside the US you might be wondering when you too will have access to this new analytics feature.

The official Google blog has already stated that they are working hard to make this new analytics feature available for businesses outside the US, so fingers crossed we will be able to try it out for ourselves soon…
