There Are Changes Ahoy At WMG…

At The WebMarketing Group we like to make sure we keep our finger on the pulse of change and development, and this also applies to our staff. Due to the continued success of WMG in everything from Sales to SEO, we have made a few changes within our offices and there’s going to be some new faces around. Some are new starters, others are developing their roles further within the company, but all are striving for the same goal…to be part of WMG’s success and continue to offer a great service to our clients.

So, make yourself comfortable as we introduce you to some of the people making waves at WMG…

Name: Paul Wilcock
Location: Sheffield office
Background: I have worked in sales for 6 years, so I have gained a lot of experience in attracting and keeping a strong client base. Most recently I have been working for The Daily Mail Group selling data and email marketing.
Role at WMG: My position here is New Media Consultant – it’s a very challenging role but I am thoroughly enjoying it and I've got off to a great start, so I’m sure I will be reaping the rewards very soon!
Likes / dislikes: I like my new role in Sheffield and I’m working with a great team of people. I love selling and being able to genuinely believe in the company I am working for and the products they offer, which is definitely the case here at WMG. The only dislike is something quite trivial, but rather amusing…we always run out of milk for coffee! Debbie?!
Fun facts: I play guitar in a band called Zapp Brannigan. The Arctic Monkeys supported my band at the Leadmill in Sheffield - yes, supported us. Now look! Gutted…

Name: Mags Yip
Location: Harrogate office
Background: I graduated from the University of Worcester in 2007 and started my career in brand marketing and fashion. I soon found my forte in copywriting and love to write about anything from the latest Manolo Blahniks to loft conversions!
Role at WMG: I have joined as an SEO copywriter and will be part of an SEO Account Manager’s small team. I will be writing keyword optimised articles on a daily basis and ensuring that client deadlines are met.
Likes / dislikes: I enjoy travelling and have visited many places. In addition to this, I love trying new foods and dining out. As far as dislikes go, I’m not keen on public transport and fussy eaters!
Fun facts: I was a University Cheerleader for the 'Worcester Saucies', who were later re-named 'Worcester Sinners' due to a bizarre complaint.

Name: Vickie Harrison
Location: Harrogate office
Background: I have worked for WMG for nearly 6 years. I started looking after the Online Exhibitions, then moved to the Webcreator Team where we built websites for the smaller businesses. It was here that I developed my Photoshop and Dreamweaver skills and I really enjoyed the technical / design side. I have also looked after the Webmag product and the Webtrafficker Instants but I am now moving over to the SEO team to become a fully-fledged link builder.
Role at WMG: My new link building role means I will be a part of Scott Tehrani’s team in SEO, but I will still be looking after the Online Expos too, meaning I will have a much more active and dynamic role within the company.
Likes / dislikes: I like sunny days, and going to the pub. I HATE wasps! And Madness (as in Suggs)
Fun facts: I have 2 kittens called Pudding and Pixel. That is as fun as it gets!

Name: Alice Whittaker – Alred
Location: Harrogate office, with occasional visits to the Peterborough and Sheffield offices.
Background: I left University in 2007 with a Business Management degree and since then have branched out into Marketing. I dipped my toes into IT recruitment and then moved into a Marketing/Business Consultancy role, where I was responsible for giving face to face and web presentations of retail software. I have also had a lot of experience managing rebrands, email/mailing campaigns, client database builds, the rewriting of company literature/collateral, website pages and the company news feeds.
Role at WMG: Marketing – initially my main role here is to set up, organise and run all the e-shot marketing campaigns for the company, which will go out every month. I will be developing, maintaining and monitoring the email database – ensuring that we have valid, usable emails to help generate as many leads as possible for the Sales team. In addition to the e-shots, I will also be sending out a monthly newsletter to all clients, giving hints and tips to help generate more interest in WMGs new products or existing products which may be beneficial to them.
Likes / dislikes: I like being busy all the time and working in a friendly, sociable environment. I dislike people that moan and not having enough work to do!
Fun facts: I once ate crocodile and I know the words to every Killers song EVER. Oh, and I have also broken my arm, leg, nose, thumb and little toe at least once in my lifetime!

Name: Edward Yates
Location: Harrogate office
Background: I found myself at The WebMarketing Group (WMG) after tallying with a varied career path.  I have always had a passion for film, sfx & design. Breaking into the film industry is a tough feat and so I went self employed. Due to current market conditions I diversified my skills into building websites.
Role at WMG: I am a newly appointed link builder in the SEO team. I felt I wanted to turn SEO into a career so here I am…getting trained by the pros! I feel happy & very fortunate to finally have a career that I really enjoy!
Likes / dislikes: I like to keep active & really want to take my black sash grading in lau gar kung fu this year. I have started playing Rugby League again and so far have only coughed up half of my internal organs on the pitch - but most of the time outside work is dedicated to running after my little rug-rat kid ‘Roob’ who is turning into a demanding terror! Dislikes include back seat drivers.
Fun Facts: I can turn my arms inside out! And I can turn anything that is anything into anything using toggle bolts!

Role at WMG: I have joined the company as a copywriter and now work together with the SEO team. My day to day responsibilities involve writing key word rich articles.
Likes / dislikes: I love going out for dinner, reading, napping and going on holiday. My record of holidays taken in one year is 7. My favourite place in the world is Betty’s Café. My favourite things to eat include cheese cake, chocolate cake, brownies and anything that comes with extra cheese. Dislikes include spin classes, spiders and pickles.
Fun Facts: While at University I rescued a cat from my local shelter called Denzel. I got a bit giddy and rescued two more called Izzy and Jinx.
